Ways to use this list
- Flag challenge: spin a country, sketch its flag from memory in two minutes, then check an atlas and score a point for every colour in the right place.
- Continent call-out: spin from all 195 and the first player to name the right continent scores; Egypt, Russia and Türkiye start the best arguments.
- Food night: cook a dish from the country the reel lands on, such as jollof rice for Ghana or pierogi for Poland, and find the country on a map while it cooks.
- Research projects: with Remove the winner on, each team draws a different country and makes a one-page fact file on its capital, languages, currency and highest point.
- Travel bucket list: spin five times, rank the five countries in the order you would most like to visit, then read up on the one you put last.
Press Pull the lever, tap the game or press the Space bar. Change the list in the box as you
like: add your own, delete what doesn't suit you, or write *2 after an entry to give it double the
chance. The game buttons switch the same list to a wheel, duck race, hat and more.

Questions people ask
How many countries are in the generator?
195: the 193 member states of the United Nations plus its two observer states, Vatican City and Palestine. The newest UN member is South Sudan, which became independent in 2011. Territories that belong to another country, such as Greenland, Puerto Rico and Bermuda, are not listed separately.
Can I pick from one continent only?
Yes: press Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America or Oceania above the picker. The groups follow the UN's regions, as our continent pages do, so Russia sits in Europe, Egypt in Africa, and Türkiye, Cyprus, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan in Asia. Central America and the Caribbean count as North America.
Which continent has the most countries?
Africa, with 54. Asia has 48, Europe 44, North America 23, Oceania 14 and South America 12. Antarctica has none: seven countries claim slices of it, but the Antarctic Treaty of 1959 sets the whole continent aside for peaceful science.
Which countries have no coastline?
Press Landlocked for all 44, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. Kazakhstan is the largest of them, and Liechtenstein and Uzbekistan are doubly landlocked: every neighbour they have is landlocked too. Africa has the most, with 16.
Which is the largest country, and which has the most people?
Russia is the largest by area, covering about 17 million square kilometres, well ahead of Canada in second place. India has the most people, having passed China in 2023. Vatican City is the smallest on both counts, with fewer than a thousand residents.
Why does it start on the slot machine?
The wheel shows up to 100 names, so a list of 195 starts on the slot machine, which handles any number. The hat and Quick pick work too.
