What we store on your device

We don't set tracking cookies of our own. To remember things for you, the site uses your browser's local storage (it works like a cookie but is never sent to our server), plus its IndexedDB storage for photos:

  • Your last list, so it's still there when you come back, and your edits on each ready-made list page, kept for that page only.
  • Saved lists you chose to save.
  • Settings such as speed, sound and the number of winners, and your options in the team generator, pair generator and list randomizer.
  • The no-repeats round: who has had a turn (and who won last) with "No repeats until everyone is picked".
  • "Absent today" marks on the classroom name picker.
  • Photos added to names, shrunk to small squares and kept only in this browser. They are never uploaded and never put in share links.
  • Theme (light or dark), your cookie choice and whether you have seen the first tip.
  • An offline copy of the site's pages (a service worker cache), so the picker works without a connection. It holds only the site's own pages and files.

These are needed for the features you use and don't follow you around the web.

Advertising cookies

The site shows ads from Adsterra. When ads load, Adsterra and its partners may set cookies or use similar technology to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad and measure results. See Adsterra's privacy policy.

  • If your device is set to a European time zone (UK, EU, EEA, Switzerland), or its time zone is hidden, you are asked first, and ads load only after you choose Accept.
  • Elsewhere ads load automatically, and you can opt out at any time (below).

If you choose Reject, the page reloads and no ad code is loaded at all on this device from then on; ads already on the open page stop when it reloads. Cookies that an ad partner already set stay until they expire or you clear them in your browser.

Changing your choice

Use (also at the bottom of every page) to accept or reject advertising cookies again. To remove everything the site has stored, clear this website's data in your browser settings.
