How the name race works
- Add your names, one per line. Each gets its own lane.
- Start the race. Horses, cars or snails line up: you only find out which when it starts.
- Follow the commentary as the lead changes.
- The first over the line wins and gets the crown.
Three races in one
- ๐ Horse race: galloping legs on a dirt track, like a day at the races.
- ๐๏ธ Car race: speed lines on a dark road.
- ๐ Snail race: slow, silly and surprisingly tense, a favourite with younger classes.
When to use a race
A race works best when you want everyone watching: choosing who presents first, the winner of a class reward, a prize on a stream, or the order of play at a party. For a quick decision use the wheel; for a pond full of rubber ducks, try the duck race.
The race is only the show: the result is chosen fairly first, and your names never leave your device. How the picking works.
Questions people ask
What is a random name picker race?
Instead of a wheel, your names race each other: horses, cars or snails, one lane per name. The first across the finish line is the name picked. Every race is a surprise: you get one of the three at random.
Is the race fair?
Yes. The finishing order is chosen with secure randomness before the race starts; the overtaking is just the show. Each racer has the same chance unless you gave a name extra chances (Name *2).
How many racers can there be?
Up to 30 lanes. With more names, the picker switches to Quick pick automatically.
Can I get a podium?
Set Winners to 3 in Settings: the racers cross in order and get 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Can I make the race longer?
Choose Dramatic speed in Settings, and switch on the 3-2-1 countdown for a proper start.
