      Ways to use this list

      • Character creation: give your OC a star sign and a birthday inside its dates, which helps you keep their age straight through a long story.
      • Astronomy lessons: each sign is named after a constellation the Sun appears to pass through, so spin one and find its stars on a sky chart.
      • Party icebreaker: spin a sign and everyone born under it stands up. With a big group, keep spinning to find out which sign has the most people.
      • Art prompt: spin a sign and design a creature, a costume or a poster from its symbol, like the Water-bearer or the Sea-goat.
      • Lunar New Year: press Chinese zodiac, spin an animal, then tell the old story of the great race that decided the order of the twelve animals.

      Questions people ask

      Can a zodiac sign predict anything?

      No. Star signs are an old tradition and a fun talking point, but there is no scientific evidence that they shape personality or the future. This wheel is for games, stories and art.

      Why do zodiac dates differ by a day in some lists?

      The Sun moves from one sign into the next at a slightly different moment each year, so a birthday right on the edge, like 20 April, can fall on either side. The dates here are the ones most often used.

      Is there a 13th zodiac sign?

      Astronomers point out that the Sun also passes through the constellation Ophiuchus, the Serpent Bearer, in late November and early December. It is a real constellation but not one of the traditional 12 signs.

      What is the Chinese zodiac?

      It is a repeating cycle of 12 animals, one for each year, starting with the Rat and ending with the Pig. Press Chinese zodiac above to spin the animals instead of the star signs.
