      Ways to use this list

      • OC design: spin Natural for a realistic character or Fantasy for a magical one, then add a pupil shape for a creature or shapeshifter.
      • Drawing practice: spin a colour and paint only the eye, layering a darker rim around the iris and a bright spot of reflected light.
      • Character profiles: writers spin eye colour once and note it on a profile sheet, so it doesn't quietly change halfway through the novel.
      • Science lessons: spin a natural colour to start, then survey the class and draw a bar chart of everyone's real eye colours.
      • The whole look: spin eyes here and hair on the hair colour generator for a full character design.

Press Spin the wheel, tap the game or press the Space bar. Change the list in the box as you like: add your own, delete what doesn't suit you, or write *2 after an entry to give it double the chance. The game buttons switch the same list to a duck race, hat, claw machine and more.

      Questions people ask

What is the most common eye color?

Brown, by far: most people in the world have brown eyes. Blue is common in northern Europe, and green is one of the rarest natural colours, seen in only a small share of people.

What is the difference between hazel and amber eyes?

Hazel eyes mix green and brown, and often seem to change in different light. Amber eyes are a solid golden or copper shade with little or no green.

What are good fantasy eye colors for an OC?

Violet, silver and gold feel magical but still gentle, while glowing white or starry black suit a character with great power. Press Fantasy to spin only those.

Why do some pupil shapes look like an animal's?

Real animals have many: cats and many snakes have upright slits, goats and sheep have wide horizontal bars, and cuttlefish have a W shape. Press Pupil shapes for real and fantasy options.
