Ways to use this list
- School music projects: each group spins a band name, then designs a logo and a gig poster before they write a single note.
- A new band with no name yet: put the five names everyone argued about into the picker and run a tournament at rehearsal. The winner goes on the drum.
- Fiction and scripts: the band in your story needs a name that sounds real but belongs to nobody, so spin from the set that matches their sound.
- Party game: spin a band name and one player has 30 seconds to hum that band's imaginary biggest hit while the others guess the title.
Press Spin the wheel, tap the game or press the Space bar. Change the list in the box as you
like: add your own, delete what doesn't suit you, or write *2 after an entry to give it double the
chance. The game buttons switch the same list to a duck race, hat, claw machine and more.

Questions people ask
Are these band names already taken?
We made each one up and left out names of well-known bands, but thousands of small bands play every weekend. Search the name and your local gig listings before you print T-shirts.
What makes a good band name?
It is easy to say, easy to spell and hints at your sound: Molten Teapot promises something loud, Quiet Ferns something gentle. Two or three words is plenty.
Are the metal band names OK for a school concert?
Yes. They sound heavy, with volcanoes, iron and avalanches, but nothing is violent or scary, so they fit happily on a school concert programme.
Can I find a name for a choir or dance crew here?
The indie and funny sets suit choirs, dance crews and duos too. For quiz teams and sports squads, the team name generator has 40 more group names.
