Ways to use this list
- Lunchbox week: spin a new filling for each school day so the box is never the same five days running.
- Afternoon tea or a baby shower: tap Party platter, set Winners to 5, and cut each sandwich into small triangles.
- Sandwich bar at a party: lay out breads and fillings, then each guest spins and builds the winner themselves.
- Quick dinner: Hot for dinner turns a loaf and a frying pan into a proper meal, from tuna melts to cheesesteaks.
- Cafรฉ menu test: a sandwich shop can spin two specials a week and keep whichever one sells best.
Press Spin the wheel, tap the game or press the Space bar. Change the list in the box as you
like: add your own, delete what doesn't suit you, or write *2 after an entry to give it double the
chance. The game buttons switch the same list to a duck race, hat, claw machine and more.

Questions people ask
How do I stop a packed sandwich going soggy?
Butter the bread right to the edges, which keeps moisture out, and pack wet fillings such as tomato and cucumber in a separate tub to add at lunch. Firmer bread, like a roll or sourdough, holds up better than soft sliced white.
What is the difference between a sub, a hoagie and a hero?
They are all long-roll sandwiches; the name changes with the place. Philadelphia says hoagie, New York says hero, much of New England says grinder, and in New Orleans a po' boy is the local version.
How many sandwiches do I need for a party?
A common rule of thumb is one and a half rounds per guest, cut into six small triangles, when other food is served too. Make more of the crowd favourites, such as egg mayo and ham and cheese, and fewer of the unusual fillings.
What is a Bombay sandwich?
A Mumbai street sandwich: buttered bread spread with green chutney and layered with sliced boiled potato, cucumber, tomato, onion and sometimes beetroot, sprinkled with chaat masala and often toasted.
What is coronation chicken?
A British sandwich filling of cold chicken in a creamy, mildly curried mayonnaise, often with apricot or mango chutney and sometimes raisins. It was created for the coronation lunch of 1953 and is still a picnic favourite.
