Ways to use this list
- Film night: spin three snacks, fill a bowl of each and pass them along the sofa before the opening credits.
- After school: the No cooking button gives hungry kids something they can put together themselves in two minutes.
- Party table: set Winners to 6 in Settings and a single spin hands you a whole spread of appetisers to make.
- Road trip bag: spin for the snacks to pack, then add water and something fresh, such as fruit skewers or carrot sticks.
- Kids' cooking club: each child spins one snack, makes it with an adult nearby, and the group tastes them all at the end.

Questions people ask
What are taquitos?
Small tortillas rolled tightly around a filling such as shredded chicken, beef or cheese, then fried or baked until crisp. They are often served with guacamole, salsa or sour cream for dipping. Flautas are similar but usually made with larger flour tortillas.
What is the difference between a snack and an appetiser?
An appetiser is served before a meal to start things off, while a snack is eaten on its own between meals. Plenty of foods do both jobs: spring rolls, samosas and bruschetta work either way.
What snacks can kids make by themselves?
Ants on a log (celery filled with peanut butter and topped with raisins), fruit skewers, apple slices with a dip, and cheese and crackers need no heat at all. Check allergies before serving anything nutty to a group of children.
What is bhel puri?
A Mumbai street snack of puffed rice tossed with sev (crunchy chickpea-flour noodles), chopped onion, tomato, boiled potato and tamarind and green chutneys. It is mixed just before eating so the rice stays crisp.
Are pigs in blankets the same everywhere?
No. In Britain they are small sausages wrapped in streaky bacon, a Christmas dinner favourite. In the US the name means little sausages baked inside a roll of pastry or croissant dough, closer to a mini sausage roll. Both make easy party food.
