      Ways to use this list

      • Choosing a club for a child: spin, see whether there is a class nearby, and ask about a trial session before signing up.
      • Story writing: give your hero a fighting style from the wheel and research one real technique from it.
      • Geography lesson: spin a martial art, find its home country on a map and share one fact about its history.
      • Dojo warm-up game: the instructor spins a style and students guess where it comes from before the reveal.
      • Character creator for games and comics: pair a style with a made-up school name, like "Silver River Wing Chun".

Press Spin the wheel, tap the game or press the Space bar. Change the list in the box as you like: add your own, delete what doesn't suit you, or write *2 after an entry to give it double the chance. The game buttons switch the same list to a duck race, hat, claw machine and more.

      Questions people ask

Which martial art is best for kids?

There is no single best one. Judo, karate and taekwondo are widely taught to children and focus on discipline and control; the right choice is the class with a patient teacher and a timetable that suits your family.

What is the difference between karate and taekwondo?

Both are striking arts, but karate comes from Okinawa in Japan and uses hands and feet fairly evenly, while taekwondo comes from Korea and is famous for high, fast kicks. Taekwondo has been an Olympic sport since 2000.

Which martial arts are in the Olympics?

Judo, taekwondo, boxing, wrestling and fencing are on the Summer Games programme. Karate appeared once, at the Tokyo Games held in 2021. Press At the Olympics to spin only these.

Can it make up a martial arts name?

It picks real styles. For a made-up school name, spin a style here and add a colour and an animal of your own, for example "Golden Crane Karate" or "Midnight Tiger Kung Fu".
