Ways to use this list
- Moodboards: spin an aesthetic, then collect ten pictures, three colours and one texture that fit it. Pin the board above your desk or keep it in a sketchbook.
- Room refresh: spin, then change just three things to match, such as a throw, a poster and a lamp. Cottagecore and hygge suit a cosy reading corner.
- Character design: give each character in your story or comic a different aesthetic, so their clothes and bedrooms tell readers who they are.
- Life-sim and building games: treat the aesthetic you spin as a build challenge and decorate a house, or a whole town, in that style.
- Photo or journal theme: shoot a week of photos or decorate a journal spread in the aesthetic you spin, then compare with friends who spun different ones.
Press Spin the wheel, tap the game or press the Space bar. Change the list in the box as you
like: add your own, delete what doesn't suit you, or write *2 after an entry to give it double the
chance. The game buttons switch the same list to a duck race, hat, claw machine and more.

Questions people ask
What does -core mean in aesthetics?
Adding "-core" to a word names a whole look built around it: cottagecore centres on country cottages, goblincore on mossy forest floors. The ending was borrowed from music names like hardcore and spread online in the late 2010s.
How do I find my aesthetic?
Save pictures you love for a week without asking why, then look for patterns in the colours, places, textures and eras. Spin the wheel to try a few on, and remember most people mix two or three looks instead of sticking to one.
What is the difference between dark academia and light academia?
Both are inspired by old universities, books and learning. Dark academia uses deep browns, tweed and candlelit libraries with a moody feel; light academia uses cream, beige and sunshine, with a brighter, hopeful mood.
Is an aesthetic the same as a style?
An aesthetic is wider than clothes. It covers colours, rooms, music, hobbies and even the weather a look brings to mind, so it can shape a playlist or a bedroom as easily as an outfit.
