Ways to use this list
- Class 1 warm-up: spin from Sums to 10 and children show the answer on their fingers or a mini whiteboard.
- Number bonds: press Make 10, spin, and children build the fact with ten counters in two colours.
- Addition wheel project: pupils draw a paper wheel with the same facts, then check their answers against the spinner on screen.
- Team battle for class 3 or 4: two teams race on two-digit sums and score a point for each correct answer.
- Doubles at home: spin while waiting for dinner, then turn each double into a near double by adding one.
Press Spin the wheel, tap the game or press the Space bar. Change the list in the box as you
like: add your own, delete what doesn't suit you, or write *2 after an entry to give it double the
chance. The game buttons switch the same list to a duck race, hat, claw machine and more.

Questions people ask
Which addition preset suits class 2 or class 3?
Class 1 (grade 1) does best with Sums to 10, Make 10 and Doubles. Class 2 can move on to two-digit sums, first without regrouping and then with it, and three-digit sums suit class 3 and 4.
Does the addition wheel show the answers?
No, only the sum to solve, so children work it out themselves. For self-checking, keep an answer sheet face down or ask a partner to check with counters or a number line.
How do I make a paper addition wheel?
Write a number in the centre of a circle, a ring of numbers around it, and an empty outer ring. Children add the centre number to each number in the ring and write the answers in the outer ring.
What are near doubles?
Sums where one number is one more than the other, like 6 + 7. A child who knows 6 + 6 = 12 can simply add one more to get 13, a strategy that makes many facts easier.
