Ways to use this list
- Ocean depths lesson: spin a fish and place it on a wall chart from sunny reef to dark seabed, where the anglerfish dangles its glowing lure.
- Tabletop role-play: spin whenever a character casts a line, and the fish on the wheel is what lands in the bucket.
- Fish portraits: draw the fish you get in its real home, adding one true detail such as the seahorse's curly tail or the swordfish's long bill.
- Food chain game: set Winners to 2 and decide which fish would eat the other, or whether both simply eat plankton.
- Aquarium club: press Aquarium fish and let each member spin a species to research before the next meeting, from its home river to its favourite food.
Press Spin the wheel, tap the game or press the Space bar. Change the list in the box as you
like: add your own, delete what doesn't suit you, or write *2 after an entry to give it double the
chance. The game buttons switch the same list to a duck race, hat, claw machine and more.

Questions people ask
Are sharks fish?
Yes. Sharks and rays are fish with skeletons of cartilage, the bendy material in your ears, instead of bone, and they breathe through gills. Whales and dolphins are air-breathing mammals, so you will find them on the random sea animal generator.
What is the biggest fish in the world?
The whale shark. It can grow to around 12 metres (40 feet), about as long as a school bus, yet it feeds on plankton and small fish that it filters from the water. The ocean sunfish is among the heaviest bony fish.
Is an electric eel really an eel?
No. Despite its name it is a knifefish from South American rivers, more closely related to catfish and carp than to true eels like the moray. It can give off shocks of several hundred volts to stun its prey.
Is a seahorse a fish?
Yes, a seahorse is a bony fish that swims upright and steers with a tiny fin on its back. It is also famous because the father carries the eggs in a pouch on his belly until the babies hatch.
How do fish breathe underwater?
They take water in through the mouth and push it over their gills, thin feathery folds packed with blood vessels that pull oxygen out of the water. The water then flows out through openings behind the head. Lungfish can also gulp air at the surface when their pools dry out.
