Ways to use this list
- Office potluck: split colleagues into mains, sides and desserts with the random team generator, then each person spins a dish from their course here.
- Neighbourhood summer party: tap Summer and spin, so the table fills with salads and cold dishes that are happy outdoors.
- Class celebration: each family spins one dish the week before, and the teacher shares the list so nothing doubles up.
- Family reunion: each household spins a dish, and every plate on the table gets a label with the name of whoever made it.
- Short on time? No cooking (buy it) still lets you bring something useful, even if it is the ice and the napkins.
Press Spin the wheel, tap the game or press the Space bar. Change the list in the box as you
like: add your own, delete what doesn't suit you, or write *2 after an entry to give it double the
chance. The game buttons switch the same list to a duck race, hat, claw machine and more.

Questions people ask
What should I bring to a potluck if I can't cook?
Something bought that people always need: a rotisserie chicken, a fruit or veggie platter, a cheese board, bread rolls and butter, or the drinks and ice. Paper plates and napkins are welcome too, because hosts often run short.
How much food should I bring to a potluck?
Bring a dish that serves about half the number of guests, because everyone else is bringing food as well. For a 20-person potluck, a dish for 8 to 10 is usually plenty, and a tray of a main goes further than a small bowl of dip.
How do we stop everyone bringing dessert?
Assign courses before anyone cooks. Put every guest on the name wheel with Remove the winner on and spin: the first third bring mains, the next third sides, and the rest desserts.
What are good potluck ideas for work?
Dishes that need no reheating and are easy to eat standing up: pasta or couscous salad, samosas, sausage rolls, a sandwich platter, brownies and cookies. Put a small card by your dish listing the main ingredients, so colleagues with allergies can check.
Which potluck dishes travel well?
Bakes that stay in their dish, such as lasagne, mac and cheese and enchiladas, and slow-cooker dishes like chilli, which can be plugged in on arrival. Keep salads made with mayonnaise in a cool bag until it is time to eat.
